YUMA, AZ - The down economy forces the Yuma Community Food Bank to feed more people in need and breaks an all time record. The food bank is seeing an increase in the number of families needing assistance in the summer months. With students out of school in the summer, parents are looking to find ways to feed their children.
The food bank is also seeing a rise in senior citizens turning to food banks for help as well. Overall one in five Arizonans are labeled food insecure and 43 percent of Yuma children are also in need of meals.
