YUMA, AZ - A former Somerton Police officer arrested for fraud and theft makes an appearance in court today for his sentencing hearing.

Felipe Navarro was sentenced by a Yuma County Superior Court judge to two years of supervised probation for theft.

Navarro plead guilty last month to two felony charges.

His second charge for fraud was dismissed.

He was accused of taking money from a victim by falsely representing there was a Cadillac available at a police auction.

He then said he could assist the victim in obtaining the vehicle.

Navarro posted bail following his arrest.
