Friends, family and the Patriot Guard were gathered at the imperial airport as the body of 33- year old Army Captain Scott Patrick Pace was taken off the plane.

"It hurts everyone of us when our brother get killed. We want to show the family that their sacrifice is appreciate and that's why we are here to show our support," Gunny Donor, Patriot Guard.

CPT. Pace of Brawley was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Pace was killed in a helicopter crash in Eastern Afghanistan last week. After his arrival a procession took him to Brawley where services are scheduled.

KSWT talked to Pace's father who tells News 13 about his son.  "He was an excellent kid, he was an eagle scout he was active in his church and he loved sports," says Patrick Pace, Father Scott Pace.

During his Military career CPT. Pace was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Army Air Medal.

"I think sometimes it's too easy to forget these young men and women and the sacrifices they make. Memorial day and veterans day often times becomes a picnic. I don't think it's ever going to be a picnic for me anymore," says Patrick Pace.
