New Law Cracks Down on Border Tunnels - | News for Yuma, Imperial Valley, El Centro, AZ & CA

A number of border smuggling tunnels are becoming a problem along the South Western border, but a new law may try to solve the issue.

Last week, President Barack Obama signed a 'Border Tunnel prevention Act of 2012.

The law would make it a criminal offense for property owners to build, finance or let others build border tunnels on their property.

More than half of 150 smuggling tunnels found along the Southwestern border, have turned up in Nogales, a town near Mexico, which in turn makes it an attractive area for smuggling tunnels.
