Yuma, AZ - Yuma's Amateur Radio operators joined thousands across the country in demonstrating their emergency capabilities Saturday.
Amateur radio operators often referred to as hams provide backup communication for everything from the American Red Cross to FEMA and even for the International Space Station.
During Yuma's September blackout Yuma Hams assisted local agencies by providing needed backup communication.
Saturday, local hams set up four stations teaching other free of charge how to become a local amateur radio operator and how to obtain their license.
