4 days until Yuma's first water park opens

Yuma, AZ - Thousands of gallons of water are being pumped in to Waylon's Water World pools right now.

"This is exciting, literally right behind me the lazy rivers, all 750ft of them are being filed up with crystal clear water, wonderful water slide water for this Friday for everybody to enjoy," says Jay Walker a Manager at Waylon's Water World.

The water park is almost complete, workers have been fishing up the final touches before the grand opening.  "Yuma's first water park cost over $8million to build, it features 15 slides, an 800ft lazy river, splash pools and a rain forest area.

The park has been designed to accommodate 3,500 people per day and also has something very unique.  "The slide behind me is called a constrictor tube, there's only 3 in the U.S. and this is the largest constrictor tube in America here at Waylon's Water World," says Walker.

Walker says the park isn't just for kids, grown ups can have fun too.

"For the adults if you want to get into the lazy river and have a diet coke in your hand and float it's here, if you're an adult and want to lounge around with a bud light in your hand, that's here as well, We are a full service park for the family, we are waiting for you all," says Walker.

Walker says getting everything ready for the big day has been a bit stressful, but says it's all worth it.  He says the park will be a great place for families and will also help Yuma's economy.

"Don't forget Yuma, this place was built, we're getting calls from people all over the country who will be coming here for one  reason or another , they will be filling up our hotels, eating at our restaurants getting gas in our town. This park will help our whole community," says Walker.

Walker says the water park will employ 36 people per shift with two shifts per day.

Waylon's water world is located behind the Z Fun Factory at 4446 E County 10-th Street.

They say you can come in and buy tickets or season passes anytime this week.

The park will open at 9am on Friday.
