YUMA, AZ - The Yuma Community Food Bank has $50,000 more dollars to stock its shelves, courtesy of the Cocopah Indian Tribe.
The donation was inspired by the work the YCFB does, feeding the hungry, according to a tribe spokesperson.
The food bank serves more than 22,000 people every month in Yuma and La Paz counties. In May, it set a record, helping more than 24,000 people.
The Cocopah tribe will pay the money to the food bank in quarterly installments over the next year. The money will be used for general operations and doing what is necessary to get food to those who need it.
