DPS warns drivers distracted by fireworks

Posted:

YUMA, AZ - The Department of Public Safety is warning drivers to not stop on the highway to watch fireworks.

We are just a day shy of all the Fourth of July celebrations but DPS is asking all drivers not be distracted by fireworks while on the road.

They say that over the past years, they have seen drivers stop on many freeways and highways: some have even stopped on traffic lanes.

DPS says this is extremely dangerous.

They say they will be out in full force to keep traffic moving and to issue tickets to drivers who are paying more attention to the fireworks than their driving.
