YUMA, AZ story by Janet Avelar, Reporter - Several Yuma residents and visitors gathered in Downtown Yuma for a day of fun and celebration. Food, drinks and plenty activities were on hand for those who attended the Annual Yuma Block Party
For those who wanted to cool down a bit, firefighters sprayed down the public with a water hose as well. Parents like Gaby say she enjoys events like this one because her kids really enjoy it.
"This is the first time I seen this and I think it is awesome for all the children and their families." Says Gaby Camargo. A Jumper along with several games and activity booths lined Main Street. The event is put together by the City of Yuma, to celebrate the city.
Families also got the opportunity to get their picture taken with a live horse. Vendors who took part in the event say it was a great opportunity to raise money. "This year we are going to try to sell food because it is a good fundraiser." Says Sheppard Ikaikaikailni with the Yuma Hui Hawaiian Club.
For others it was a day to hang with friends and enjoy their time.
"It was a lot of fun I got to hang out with my friends and got to see people I know." Says Makayla.
For those who didn't get to show up at the event. There is always next year.
