Anthony Sanchez arraigned in court on child abuse charges


EL CENTRO, CA- A man charged with physically abusing his stepson was in court Tuesday.

Former Imperial Irrigation District board member Anthony Sanchez is being charged with 2 counts of child abuse.

It was a month ago when a neighbor recorded Sanchez in his backyard playing catch with his stepson, moments later Sanchez began to hitting the young boy with his belt.

The neighbor eventually told Sanchez to stop.

The neighbor uploaded the video on youtube and notified Imperial County Sheriff's deputies.

Sanchez has gotten support from his friends and family, including his wife, who says that she stands by his side.

Both the Imperial County District Attorney's Office and Sanchez's attorney are standing their ground.

Sanchez is free on $100,000 bond.

His next court appearance is Friday.
