More than half million dollar drug bust in Salton City

Salton City, CA--More than $1.6 million dollars in Methamphetamine and Cocaine is seized by border patrol agents near Salton City.

It happened Monday at the Highway 111 checkpoint.

Border patrol officials said a canine team alerted suspicion to a Blue Mazda tribute.

Agents then discovered 27 packages of Meth along with two packages of cocaine inside a hidden compartment.

The 58-year old male driver, who is a Mexican citizen, was arrested and turned over to the DEA along with the vehicle and narcotics.
