Lowe's Heroes Group Helps Renovate Amberly's Place

Posted:

YUMA, AZ - Amberly's Place is getting a little help from some special volunteers looking to make it a more inviting place.  The Lowe's Heroes Organization works with the community to help renovate and beautify a place that may be in great need of it.

Amberly's place closed its doors Sunday afternoon, but inside more than 20 Lowe's Heroes volunteers came together to paint and refurnish the facility.

Volunteers worked early Sunday repainting walls and installing new shelves and tiles.

"We got here at eight in the morning to paint and also put in new carpet, and we actually did a good job working together as a team."  Says, Randy Bailey, Volunteer with Lowe's Heroes.

The Lowe's Heroes Organization is a company -wide volunteer initiative that offers Lowe's employees the opportunity to work on a project in their own neighborhood. The goal is to make their community a better place to work, live and play.

"What we do is ask volunteers to come and help us at our store so it's actually really neat for all of us to get together and make a difference in the community." Says, Robin Jones, Volunteer with Lowe's Heroes.

Amberly's Place Crisis Center has been running since 1999 to provide an innovative, multi-disciplinary approach to the investigation and intervention of cases of child sexual and physical abuse.

The center was in need of some renovation, and the facilities manager and coordinator says he couldn't be happier with the help he is getting.

"They went above and beyond to help us out for a great cause. As you know we are a non profit organization and we can't afford to do these things so with the support from Lowe's we are able to do such great deeds." Says, Trevor Umphress.

Once renovations are finished Amberly's Place will re-open its doors to show their new and improved facility to the public.
