Yuma--Clean up from Friday nights storm continues throughout the City of Yuma. Some public parks facilities and a major street has closed down due to Friday's storms.
The beach and fishing area at Gateway Park is submerged because of high water levels in the Colorado River.
City officials advise visitors to be cautious.
"The City of Yuma does not provide lifeguards for this, so if you're going into the water you're going out there at your own risk," Dave Nash, spokesman for the City of Yuma said. "The river current is traveling pretty fast."
The boat launch at West Wetlands Park is closed also because of high water levels.
Sections of the neighborhood park in the Ocotillo subdivision are closed off until they are cleaned and repaired.
The basketball court is covered in dirt and debris due to storm water runoff and the playground area is too muddy for play.
However, the soccer field remains open.
A major street in Yuma is also temporarily closed.
The airport loop is closed to traffic in both directions between Avenue A and County 14th.
City officials said a sinkhole was created on the northbound side of the street.
"There's very tall trench at least 8 feet high and they're digging to find out where the damage to the culvert is and what needs to be repaired," Nash said. "You're not going to drive across that so please observe all the road close signs."
He said the estimated time for repairs is unknown at this time but they expect the closure to continue through at least this week.
