Trial for Yuma doctor murdered in 2007 begins Wednesday

YUMA, AZ- The trial for a man accused of murdering a local doctor nearly 5 years ago begins Wednesday.

Preston Strong is accused of killing Dr. Satinder Gill in November of 2007.

Yuma police say Dr. Gill was found dead in his home from asphyxiation. A large sum of money was also discovered missing from his home.

Strong faces charges of premeditated first degree murder, first degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, attempted arson, burglary in the first degree and armed burglary.

Strong has opted for a bench trial, which means his fate lies in the hands of Yuma Superior Court Judge John Nelson.
