Yuma AZ- People lined up through the day to buy tickets for one of the most anticipated films of recent years despite the deadly shooting that took place at a midnight screening of the new batman film in Colorado.
"It's just tragic what happened. I feel sorry for all the families in Aurora that are grieving. This morning I remember waking up to this news and feeling like I got kicked in the chest, I can't believe someone would do something like this to family and children," says Tom a Yuma Resident.
Some Theater goers say they are not going to let the horrifying incident stop them from living their lives.
Many tell News 13 this incident is very tragic, but they believe it was a one time incident and they wouldn't expect something like that to happen here in Yuma.
"Honestly you can't allow things like that dictate your life. Basically you need to keep an eye on who is around you, Most businesses up security when these types of things happen," says Thomas Stevens a Yuma Resident.
"I have been going to the theater for as long as I can remember and I have always had a good experience and I am not going to let one crazy man stop me from going to the theaters," says Mackenzie Yuma Resident.
A worker at Main street cinemas says they will conduct business a normal. The hark ins theater organization did issues a statement saying safety is always a paramount concern to them, and they say they will continue to monitor the situations and add security procedures as necessary.
Some believe it's not necessary for theaters to beef up their security.
"What I'd rather see is society step up, there must have been some warning signs, some tips or something this guy displayed that could have been picked up by someone before hand. I think society should focus on prevention," says Tom a Yuma Resident.
Local theaters say "The Dark Night Rises" is doing very well and they are hoping people will still head out to catch the movie on the opening weekend.
