YUMA, AZ - A local city has a new and more efficient way to provide water to its residents.
San Luis City leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate their new energy efficient water pump project at the well site on the corner of Juan Sanchez Blvd. and 8th Avenue.
They have replaced old water pumps that used a lot more energy to function.
City officials say this new project will save the city $15,000 a year and $300,000 in the lifespan on the pumps.
The $50,000 project funded by stimulus money, gave two local contractors jobs and all materials used were made in the country.
