Posted:

YUMA, AZ –Million Air Yuma recognizes Yuma's great potential which is why the private aviation operation at Yuma International Airport is building a New 18,000 square foot hangar to expand the city's economic growth.

James Combs, the General Manger at Million Air Yuma says, "We've got the business leadership in the city, the airport and we've just got a very good community that is interested in growing this place. This is a place for such a hangar."

Combs also says the new Amelia Earhart hangar brings capability for aviation to take advantage of Yuma's months and months of great flying.

Like Jacobs Hangar built in 2009, which now houses NASA, Million Air officials hope Amelia Earhart Hangar will also attract large businesses that will benefit the community.

Combs says "It's really like a double bonus here. We provide the jobs for the local community but the second part is we get a very good end product."

LPC Construction, a local contractor is working in conjunction with Million Air to build the hangar that will sit on approximately 3.16 acres.

Combs says when complete the hangar will provide an immense amount of capability with its space.  He says, "When larger companies do want to come in and operate out of Yuma you've already got the infrastructure that is in place and we can build it to suit them. So, if they have a type of aircraft were building it so we can customize it to support what they need."

Construction on the Amelia Earhart Hangar is expected to be completed in the next three months.
