El Centro, CA - The Imperial Valley is still dealing with road closures and water issues as a result of Monday's Storms. This is a new picture KSWT's Jose Martinez took while working on a story you will see of 80 feet of Road just outside of Seeley that collapsed. W. Evan Hewes road is closed.
The Office of Emergency Services reported this morning that the New River has overflowed and has spilled water in an area East of Brawley. The water overflow from the New River has covered a portion Cattle Call Park including the West Parking Lot in the Cattle Call Arena. This overflow into the New River was a result of the increased water that flowed into the drains due to the region's July 30th storm.
The City of Brawley has closed all access to pedestrians and vehicles to the Brawley Cattle Call Park. The Park will remain closed until the water recedes and has dried and the area is cleared by Imperial County Environmental Health. How soon the Park will reopen will depend on local weather conditions.
County Officials are working closely with City of Brawley and the Imperial Irrigation District staff to monitor the water overflow and assess other areas that could potentially have water overflow.
