Cattle Call Park in Brawley closed due to contaminated water

Posted: Updated:

Brawley--The Brawley Cattle Call park is underwater and officials ask you to please stay out.

City of Brawley officials said the primary concern are pathogens in the water.

Due to recent rain storms, a portion of the of the new river has overflowed and flooded the park including the west parking lot.

Imperial county officials are working closely with the City of Brawley and the Imperial Irrigation District staff to monitor the water overflow and assessing other areas.

They said they are also monitoring mosquito breeding. They determined that there's high organic material in the water for potential breeding.

Officials said they don't have an estimated amount of damage yet or how long it may take to make repairs.

The park will reopen when the water evaporates and the area is cleared by the environmental health department.
