Wellton, Ariz. – Two separate exposure incidents have resulted in arrests in Wellton. Police say after a two week long covert investigation ending on July 28th, officers of the Wellton Police Department were able to identify and locate a suspect they say had been exposing himself to people out walking for exercise in the early morning hours.

William Alcala had reportedly been riding his bicycle in a residential area along Mountain View Boulevard in Wellton on July 9th, 2012 when he allegedly exposed himself to a citizen walking in the immediate area. The victim contacted the police department which then initiated walking patrols in the area in an attempt at finding the suspect. Eventually, police say Alcala was spotted riding his bicycle in the area and the subsequent investigation revealed that he was the suspect they were after. 24 year old William Alcala of Wellton was arrested for the offense.

In a separate incident on August 2nd police say 18 year old Juan Daniel Tamayo of Wellton was arrested for a similar crime that occurred at a local area convenience store. Tamayo allegedly was at the store and began masturbating while conversing with the on duty clerk. When confronted by the clerk, he left the store and the police were notified. Tamayo was later located after video footage from the store that revealed his identity. Police say Tamayo was also arrested for the offense.

Wellton PD Lieutenant Cannon Ball says "We are glad that we were able to locate and arrest both subjects within a short time frame to prevent these types of criminal acts from continuing within our community". Ball also says "We would like to reassure the public that this type of behavior will not be tolerated and we will respond accordingly, using all of our available resources, to identify and apprehend alleged suspects that allegedly commit these acts".
