Yuma--The Arizona Marketplace is under new management and they say positive changes are underway.
Management says they have been working hard to bring back former vendors. They said so far they have about 200 spaces rented.
They hope by next month to have a couple hundred more signed up for opening day.
"Honestly, people are happy. People that have facebook are talking about it. We have a lot of support from the vendors," Scott Anwar, managing member of Arizona Marketplace said. "Obviously some of them are still kind of leery and it's going to take some time to bring them back but we will."
The new owner said customers will not have to pay entrance fees for the months of November and December as a way to welcome back shoppers and encourage buying as the holidays get closer.
"We're adding security for people or for vendors not to worry about their merchandise," Anwar said. "We're giving them more square footage for the same price. We're not raising the rent or anything we're actually reducing the rent for smaller spaces."
He said they will make the parking lot bigger and customers will have closer access to the marketplace.
"The one thing I promise them if it's not this year by next year...this place is going to be back like it use to be, not last year. I'm talking back when it was booming," he said.
Anwar said they are changing the sign and the food court will also be renovated.
There will be a soft opening for marketplace by the third weekend of October.
The grand opening for the marketplace will be held Thursday, November 1st.
