Inca Lanes Shooting for October 1st Opening

Posted:

YUMA, AZ - Inca Lanes is getting an inside-out makeover, as they prepare to reopen their doors. On the outside, there's new landscaping, new asphalt and a new coat of paint. Renovations on the inside are even more extensive.

Scoring tables, chairs and computers have been completely removed, ready for new equipment. New interior paint should start going up next week, according to Christy Thomas, a spokesperson for Inca Lanes.

"The equipment has all been ordered. We have new scoring systems, new kitchen equipment. We have lots of new fun stuff that will invite/entice the community to come out and see what's going on here," says Thomas.

Inca Lanes abruptly closed its doors last month.

"AMF was having financial difficulties and they just came through and closed it one day on July 2nd. We didn't know and employees didn't know. Unfortunately, they just closed the doors," explains Thomas.

But the business-owning family quickly went to work getting their doors reopened. And they're using local labor to do it. Thomas says all of the subcontracted labor are local hires. A month or so before the doors reopen, the 40 lane recreation center will be looking to fill another 20 positions to keep the alley staffed.

League bowlers should know the lanes will be USBC certified.

Thomas says they hope to open October 1st, though it may be a while to get league play re-established. They'll post the latest on their reopening progress, as well as job information on their Inca Lanes Facebook page.
