El Centro 7-11 robbery suspect now behind bars


EL CENTRO, CA.- A man who police say came at them with a knife after robbing a 7-11 store in El Centro is now in jail.

Two officers were driving through the parking lot of the 7-11, on August 2,. when they witnessed a robbery in progress.

El Centro police say they positioned themselves outside the 7-11 and when the suspect came out they ordered him to stop.

Police say 23 year old Jose Facundo Torres, ignored them and kept walking towards the officers with the knife in hand.

They opened fire wounding him.

He was just released from the hospital.

Torres was booked on a warrant charging him with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a peace officer and burglary.

He is being held on $50,000 bond.

Torres also had a parole hold placed upon him.
