YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - A Yuma mother is in custody for allegedly giving drugs to her baby daughter.
A 10-month-old girl was flown last week to Phoenix Children's Hospital from the Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment of what originally believed to be a scorpion sting. It was later learned the child tested positive for amphetamines and ecstasy.
Yuma police say 25-year-old Maria Robles admitted to using meth and allowed her baby access to drugs.
Police say the child remains at the Phoenix hospital for treatment and now is in the care of the state Child Protective Services.
Robles was arrested Monday. She's being held at the Yuma County Detention Facility for suspicion of child abuse, possession and use of dangerous drugs, and endangerment. It was unclear Tuesday if Robles has a lawyer yet.
