CALEXICO, CA.- A 60 year old man is arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana into the U.S.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Calexico downtown Port of Entry referred a vehicle for further inspection after a canine team alerted suspicion Monday night.
While officers were searching the vehicle they discovered seven wrapped packages of marijuana on top of the engine compartment.
CBP says further searching of the vehicle revealed additional packages concealed in the vehicles passenger door panel, dashboard, and undercarriage.
A total of twenty wrapped packages were found worth a street value of nearly $95,000.
The driver, a Mexicali resident, was turned over to ICE agents and then booked into the Imperial County Jail.
