YUMA, AZ - Working out of her garage and getting donations locally and nationally Catherine's Glass Slipper Project has helped numerous people in the Yuma community find a dress, a dress they couldn't afford otherwise.
Catherine Vick, the founder of Catherine's Glass Slipper Project says "It just kept tugging at my heart that if there's one girl out there, then there has to be others and that's how it started. I developed a Facebook page right at my kitchen table and that how it became a program. I now have almost 400 gowns."
Catherine's Glass Slipper Project is a community organization helping girls find a formal gown for a special occasion. Vick says, she never planned to start the program t just happened after helping a young girl find a dress for prom because her family couldn't afford one. Vick Tells News 13 She was that girl that didn't have a dress when she was a teen and she knows what it feels like."
Vick says although she never expected this she loves what she does and plans to do it the rest of her life helping as many young ladies as she can. With hundreds of donated dresses to choose from, numerous shoes and various accessories in just over a year, the soon to be non profit is off to a good start. Working out of her garage the glass slipper project has grown from helping high school girls with prom to helping brides find that perfect dress for their special day.
Vic says "I really think this is something that god has really placed in my heart to help the girls in our community and it's just been flourishing since."
