YUMA, AZ- A San Luis teen is sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for attempting to transport drugs for sale.

Mark Anthony Roque was arrested in June of 2011 after a large amount of drugs were found in the vehicle he was in.

Roque was with another San Luis teen at the time when a DPS officer stopped the vehicle for an equipment violation on Interstate 8 near Tacna.

During a search of their vehicle 41 packages of methamphetamine were found.

Due to the amount of drugs, detectives obtained a search warrant for one of the suspect's residences and 40 more packages of meth were seized.

In all, the narcotics had an estimated street value of nearly $1.4 million.

He was sentenced Friday morning by Yuma County Superior Court Judge John Nelson.

Roque recently pled guilty to one count of attempted transportation of drugs for sale.
