Arizona Western College starts fall semester

Posted: Updated:

Yuma--Today is the first day of the fall semester at Arizona Western College and hundreds of students are heading back to classes.

Students and faculty seemed to enjoy their first day of the semester.

"It was pretty good, I was nervous at first but it was pretty easy to find the classes," Jazmin Serrato said.

"My first day was really good actually it was a little busy but I got through it," Yesenia Reynaza.

The one stop shop in the college community center was overflowing with students adding classes.

A returning student majoring in criminal justice said he likes the convenience of having an afternoon schedule.

"This is my first class so I'm barely going to go to it but I hope its going to be a good day," Eduardo Juarez said.

Another student said he started his day at 4 a.m. and is eager for what this semester has to offer.

"I learned to be more focus be prepared for what coming up ahead tests, any obstacles that come my way," Nestor Medina said.

Also, new on the main campus is a mural depicting super heroes who represent AWC's diverse student body.

They said the project is a collaborative effort between four students.

We're told the heroes are depicted as defending education and knowledge.

For those who haven't registered, there is still time, students have until Thursday to sign up for their classes.
