Police say a Yuma Businessman Commits Suicide

YUMA, AZ - The body of Yuma businessman Mark Seward was discovered by Yuma police at the Regalodge Motel in the 300 Block of 4th Avenue.

They say based off of evidence at the scene it was ruled a suicide. They believe Seward took his life with carbon monoxide poisoning on Monday.

KSWT News 13 spoke with Seward's son, Trevor Seward who lives in Elko, Nevada. He said, "It's been a real hard year for all of us, but together as a family we can pull through this. It's not the phone call any of us wanted to get but we'll always remember my dad for all the good that he did."

Seward was the former Youth Soccer President and was accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Soccer Association. The case was transferred to the Superior court back in April.

Trevor says, regardless of what happened his father has always been a good person with a big heart and was willing to help anyone. He told news 13, "I feel he did a lot of good things with the community, with the soccer league and everything."

Seward is the former owner of Oz Night Club in Yuma, which closed down a couple months ago.

Things haven't been easy for the former businessman, but his family hopes by speaking out they can remind those who know him to focus on the good. Trevor said, "People make mistakes in their life, but really we just want to focus on the positive and remember him for the great person that he was while he was with us."

The Yuma police is not commenting on the incident, but encourages anyone with information about this case to contact the department at 928.783.4421 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
