CALEXICO, CA.- More than a half million dollars in narcotics is seized at the Calexico East Port of Entry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were alerted to a green 2001 Chevy Silverado Monday afternoon.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found 12 wrapped packages of narcotics co-mingled inside a custom-built compartment near the center console.
CBP officers say the drugs weighed 63 pounds and consisted of black tar heroin, white heroin, methamphetamine, along with cocaine.
The street value is said to be nearly $738,000.
The driver, a 49-year-old male, was turned over to ICE and later booked into the Imperial County Jail.
CBP seized both the vehicle and narcotics.
