Yuma, AZ- It's day 14 of the Preston Strong trial and Ace Crye took the stand. He testified about his friendship with Strong. He said they had been friends since 2004 and they shared a common interest in football.
But when the prosecution started asking other questions such a telephone conversation he had with strong on November 1st or 2nd of 2007 he wasn't able to answer.
November 1st is the day Dr. Satinder Gill was murdered.
"I don't recall the specifics," said Crye.
He couldn't remember conversations they had when he went to visit him in jail.
"He did call me from jail, but I don't recall the conversation," said Crye.
And he also couldn't remember any of the conversation he had with detectives on November 9th of 2007, even after having the transcript read to him in court.
"I don't recall, I do agree that's what the transcript says but I don't recall saying it," said Crye.
After an hour of questioning from the prosecution the judge deemed Crye as a hostile witness.
Then the questioning continued and Crye did reveal some details. He and his wife accompanied strong to court on November 2nd 2007 for an un related case.
Strong went to jail that day.
Crye also testified he received $600 that day for a loan he had made to strong several months prior.
The prosecution is alleging Strong took $24,000 from Dr.Gill the day of the murder and Crye is one of several people who have testified they received money from Strong.
