Yuma, AZ - Christian Michael Silva went before Judge Gregory Stewart at the Yuma County Justice Court to be read his formal charges. Silva has felony complaints filed against him and prosecutors allege he committed 7 separate offenses.
Count 1- is aggravated assault on a police officer which is a class two felony.
Count 2- Theft of means of transportation
Count 3- Unlawful flight
Count 4- Criminal Damage
Count 5- endangerment
Count 6 - Unlawful enter
Count 7- Animal Cruelty
YPD says the 22-year old Somerton man rammed a stolen pick-up truck into a marked K-9 unit after being pulled over on 13-th Street and 8th Avenue.
They say he then fled and soon after crashed into a tree stump outside a home nearby. Police say the truck was reported stolen from a near by restaurant.
Silva was later located walking with a woman near the 1400 block of 7th Avenue. They were both arrested, however only Silva was booked into jail.
The officer and his K-9 partner were not injured.
He will remain behind bars on 250-thousand dollars bond, He is due back in court next week.
