YUMA, AZ - Police arrest a man accused of walking into a bank, pointing a gun at the teller demanding money, then taking off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Saturday around 11:30 in the morning the Yuma County Sheriff's office says 47-year-old Jon Carstens of Phoenix allegedly robbed the Wells Fargo bank in the Yuma foothills.
The bank then called 9-1-1 and a police chase soon followed. YCSO says the chase ended in Winterhaven off Arez road where Carstens was arrested.
YCSO was assisted by Imperial County Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol and the Yuma Police Department.
ICSO has taken over the investigation and Carstens is booked at the imperial county jail where he is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property and fleeing and evading a police officer.
YCSO says in addition to Carstens charges in Imperial County, he also has pending charges in Yuma County. His bond is set at $500,000.
