Severe Thunderstorm Downgraded

Posted:

Storms have weakened as they move into Imperial County but are still very strong and capable of producing up to 50 mph winds as they move west at 10 mph.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been downgraded to a Significant Weather Advisory by the National Weather Service.  Brawley, Imperial, El Centro, Calipatria, Niland, and Salton City are all of the areas affected by the path of this storm and the advisory will expire at 8:15 pm.

All other areas east of this system may see some lighter rain for the remainder of the evening with the occasional wind gust, but most areas will remain quiet.  Stay tuned here for updates and Chief Meteorologist Garry Frank will have the latest on these storms tonight at 10.
