Posted: Updated:

American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter has issued a statement on the shelter at Castle Dome Middle Schools in Yuma:

American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter volunteers will open a shelter at 2 p.m. today at the Castle Dome Middle School, 2353 S. Otondo Dr. in Yuma. Anyone affected by the storm-related power outage is encouraged to go to the shelter, where they can spend the night.  Meals, snacks, water, showers and cots will be available.

The Red Cross cooling station offering water, snacks and meals is still open at Mt. Zion Church, 2445 E. 24th St. in Yuma. A Red Cross cooling station provides a cool place to spend the day for those without electricity and water. Anyone needing overnight sheltering is asked to go to Castle Dome Middle School.

The Humane Society is on standby for pets needing assistance.  Anyone needing disaster assistance is asked to go to the Mt. Zion Church, Castle Dome Middle School or call the Red Cross at 1-800-842-7349.
