SALTON CITY, CA - An early morning crash in Salton City leaves one dead.
California Highway Patrol says that a car traveling southbound on State Route 86, near Treadwell Road, rear ended a big rig parked on the shoulder area.
They say the driver of the big rig had pulled over because of mechanical problems and placed orange triangles in the back area of the flat bed trailer, when the driver of a 1998 Volkswagen slammed into it.
CHP identified the crash victim as Barry Paul Smith.
