YUMA, AZ.- Yuma's first assisted living memory care program will open for residency at the end of September.

News 13 was given a tour of Emerald Spring's Legacy Court Wednesday.

The area has 20 apartments, a dining room, lounge, an Arizona room, laundry room and med room.

Deb Ludington, the Executive Director of Emerald Spring's, says the community already offers assisted and independent living but now their new addition will offer memory care.

She says, "50% of the population over 85 years old has been diagnosed with Alzheimer or dementia and this is the first of its kind in Yuma." Ludington goes on to say, "it's really needed in this area."

Ludington says the vision for Legacy Court came about a few years ago. She says construction began in February and they will take their first residents at the end of this month.

Private tours are available for those interested by calling Emerald Spring's.
