Calexico Unified School District superintendent resigns

Calexico--The superintendent of Calexico Unified School District resigns after his request for thousands of dollars of pay increase is denied.

Superintendent Richard Fragale submitted his resignation Friday after the school board voted 4 to 1 to reject the $30,000 pay increase he was asking for.

The request was in response to the legislative changes in post-retirement compensation.

His resignation is effective Tuesday, the district's assistant superintendent Maria Ambriz will take Fragale's place.
