YUMA, AZ - Flags are flying at half staff today in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Christopher K. Raible and Sergeant Bradley W. Atwell. Both men were Yuma based 3rd marine aircraft wing marines who lost their life Friday supporting operations in Helmand Province Afghanistan.
Governor Jan Brewer ordered that flags be lowered today from sunrise until sunset at all state buildings to recognize the fallen marines.
Also, Yuma Harrier Group Commanding Officer Colonel Michael J. Gough offered his condolences in a statement Tuesday.
This is part of what he had to say: "We have lost two true patriots. We remember, honor and value their selfless service to this nation and to our Marine Corps. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten."
Military officials say a memorial service will be held at the MCAS-Yuma chapel.
