Suspect flees from Yuma police following traffic stop

Posted:

YUMA, AZ.- A traffic stop leads to a brief foot pursuit.

It happened just before 1 p.m. Thursday near Kennedy Lane and 24th Street in Yuma.

The Yuma Police Department says officers pulled over a gray Toyota 4Runner for suspended tags.

They say after the driver pulled into the parking lot of Coronado's Meat Market, a passenger got out of the SUV and fled.

YPD says an officer spotted the suspect running in the area.

27 year old Edgard Garcia was arrested shortly afterwards in a nearby neighborhood.

He was booked in jail on a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing and a misdemeanor warrant.

The driver of the vehicle and another passenger were interviewed at the scene. They were not taken into custody.
