Motorcyclist severely injured after running dog over

El Centro--A man suffers broken ribs and a punctured lung after losing control of his motorcycle because a dog ran across his path.

California Highway Patrol said the incident happened around 5:45 yesterday afternoon on Anza road, East of Hammers Road.

They said the man was traveling between 40 to 45 miles per hour when a dog ran directly in front of his motorcycle.

CHP said the rider was unable to avoid the dog and ran over it.

They said that's when the man lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown off.

Fortunately, they said he was wearing a helmet.

The collision remains under investigation.
