Blind biker's cross-state ride ends near Yuma

Posted:

YUMA, AZ - A blind Arizona man rides his bike cross country and completes his journey in the Desert Southwest.

Mike Armstrong, 42, biked across Arizona to raise $25,000 for the Foundation for Blind Children.

The non-profit organization helps creates opportunities for visually impaired individuals of all ages.

Armstrong spent five days traveling hundreds of miles from the Arizona/New Mexico border along Interstate Highway 10 to the California State line near Yuma.

Armstrong lost his sight at the age of 27 due non-diabetic retinopathy.

He went from having two full-time jobs and teaching karate to practically nothing.

The foundation helped him relearn how to live his daily life and now he wants to help the foundation.
