"Sophisticated" Marijuana Field Found and Destroyed

LaPaz County, AZ- What is being described as a large and sophisticated marijuana field near Wenden, AZ is discovered early Tuesday morning. Detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the LaPaz County Narcotics Task Force found the field.

Approximately 4,500 marijuana plants were discovered and later destroyed. Agents say the field had a complex irrigation system as well as a security fence that surrounded the entire one-acre field. These plants ranged from two to five feet in height and were distributed to several locations throughout the one acre site.

If cultivated, the DEA reports the field could have easily produced 400 pounds of usable marijuana with an estimated street value of $100,000 in Arizona and $300,000 on the east coast.
