Yuma-The historical car that helped refuel a 1949 airplane which went on an record-breaking endurance flight is now on display inside Yuma City Hall.
The airplane flew over the 1949 Buick and a crew would refuel the airplane.
Martha Guzman, spokeswoman for the City of Yuma, said in 1949 Yuma's population was dwindling after World War II.
She said many military bases began closing down but the historic flight showed the world that Yuma had ideal year round flying conditions.
The car is loaned by George Murdock and will be on display for about two weeks.
An official dedication will be held Wednesday, October 10th at 3p.m. to honor the significance of the airplane and car.
The public is invited to take a look during normal business hours.
