Public Health Department holds annual Flu Shot Clinic

EL CENTRO - Earlier Thursday morning, the Imperial County Public Health Department held their annual flu shot clinic.

With Flu Season almost upon us, hundreds came out to the clinic to receive their shots.

For a small fee of five dollars, residents were able to get the shot and according to Esther Murgia, it's a small price for guaranteed healthy living.

"My health comes first", she says. "I come get vaccinated every year. I'm always one of the first ones in line to get the flu shot".

According to Denise Andrade from The Imperial County Public health Department, getting the flu shot plays a vital part in residents staying healthy as the season transitions into fall and the cooler weather it brings with it.

Denise says, "We at the Public Health Department believe that the flu vaccine is the best method of protection against the flu".

Those that waited in line also expressed the importance of the shot, not only for them, but for their whole family.

"It's very important, I mean we don't get sick all year, seems like it", says El Centro resident, Israel Guevara. "We've been taking it for at least the past 3 to 4 years so it seems like it's pretty effective".

Those that came woke up bright and early as the clinic opened its doors at 7:30 this morning, but that didn't bother any of those that attended.

"No, no, not at all", says Eustaquio Ramirez. "This is our health we're talking about. We gotta get it done."

Residents from all over the county came to the clinic. After spending about 2 minutes with a nurse getting vaccinated, residents exited the department and were on their way to a healthy season.
