Rotary Club Holds Fundraiser to Raise Awareness for Polio

YUMA, AZ - Rotary Club members gathered at the Yuma Art Center this afternoon for a film screening to raise funds and awareness for polio.

The Yuma Sunrise Rotary club showed the documentary "The Shot Felt ‘Round the World: The Untold Pittsburgh Polio Story." The film details the history of the groundbreaking polio vaccine.

It's been almost three decades since the last case of polio was in the United States, but the disease still remains.

Dr. Peter Salk is the eldest son of the vaccine pioneer Dr. Jonas Salk and was a guest speaker at tonight's event.
