California Health Official Encourages Flu Shot - | News for Yuma, Imperial Valley, El Centro, AZ & CA

CA - With flu season fast approaching a state health director is urging Californians to get their flu vaccine.

Dr. Ron Chapman the Director of the California Department of Public Health says the flu is much more serious than the common cold and has the potential of causing serious illness and even death.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention influenza and related complications are the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S.

Chapman says getting vaccinated now is the best way to protect ourselves and our family against the flu and its complications.
