El Centro Man Behind Bars after Assaulting his Father and Police

EL CENTRO, CA - Police say an El Centro man is behind bars after he assaults his father and then gets into a fist fight resisting his arrest.

It happened Sunday morning just after eleven. El Centro Police say 20-year-old Alex Leon Jr. hit his father with a rock in the 1000 block of South Imperial Avenue and then took off. Leon's mother, called police to report the incident. Officers located Leon around the corner in the 1400 block of Vine.

Police say Leon became verbally aggressive with the officer and refused to comply to the officers orders which then led to a fight. The officer was struck several times in the face and head before finally getting a hold of Leon. Both the officer and Leon were treated at El Centro Regional Medical Center for minor injuries before being released.

Leon was booked into the Imperial County jail for assault with a deadly weapon, battery on an officer and vandalism.
