Two alleged drug smugglers nabbed by border patrol

WELLTON, AZ - Two undocumented immigrants are in custody after Yuma Border Patrol Agents allegedly caught them smuggling backpacks full of marijuana.

The bust went down on Interstate-8 near Wellton Saturday morning when agents spotted the two men.

Agents were able to arrest one suspect on the spot. The second man tried to run away, but was later arrested.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $48,000.

Both men and the drugs were turned over to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
