Historic plane dedicated in Yuma City Hall

YUMA, AZ - A little piece of history is now officially part of Yuma City Hall. It's called the "City of Yuma."

The airplane's historic 1949 endurance flight put Yuma back on the map after World War II.

It has been hanging inside Yuma's City Hall for a few months but on Wednesday the airplane was dedicated with full honors.

The airplane literally helped save the airfield after an endurance flight pointed out the great flying weather we enjoy all year round.

Today was a day to remember those who helped make it all possible. Horace Griffin, now 91-year-old, was part of the refueling crew.

In addition to the historic airplane visitors can enjoy audio-video presentations, a kiosk teaching visitors about the flight and its significance to Yuma, and a 3D wall hanging illustrating a refueling run.
